Action: amount of money gambled by a player during the

All-in: moving all your chips in - betting the remainder
of your funds.
Anchor Man: The player betting from the last chair at

Ante: Usually a poker term used for the wager to enter
a game, or a hand.
Any Craps: A one roll bet in roulette totaling 2, 3,
or 12.
Any Seven: A one roll bet in roulette totaling any 7.
Baccarat: A card game where the winning hand totals closest
to 9 discounting all units of 10.
Bankroll: The amount of money a player has allocated
for their gaming session.
Base: In craps the area on the dice table where bets
are made and paid.
Basic Strategy: A mathematical system for playing the
game of blackjack.
Betting Limits: The minimum and maximum amount that can
be wagered on any one bet.
Blackjack: A card game where players try to beat the
dealer by getting closest to 21 without busting.
Blackjack: A hand where the first two cards total 21.
Bust: To exceed 21.
Call Bet: A bet made verbally to other players.
Card Counting: A system developed to keep track of the
high cards and low cards left in the deck.
Caribbean Stud: A five-card poker game where all the
players are playing against the house.

Come Bet: A wager placed on the come line.

roll after a point has been made. This roll establishes the point.

Cut: To divide the deck into two parts at the beginning
of a game.
Discard Rack: Area of the table where used cards are
placed.
Don't Come Bet: A bet placed on the don't come bar.
Don't Pass Bet: A wager placed prior to the come out
roll that a seven will be rolled before a point is repeated.
Don't Pass Line: The area on the craps table where don't
pass bets are placed.
Edge: The casino's advantage often referred to as the
house advantage.
Face Cards: The king, queen, or jack of each suite.
Hit: To take another card.
Horn Bet: A one-roll bet that includes the 2, 3, 11,
and 12 in craps.
Insurance: A side bet that the dealer has a blackjack.
It's offered if the dealer's upcard is an ace.
Odds: Chances of winning expressed in terms of currency.
One-Roll Bets: Wagers that will win or lose depending
on the very next roll.
Pallette: The flat paddle used on baccarat tables to
scoop the cards.
Pass-Line Bet: A bet made prior to the come out roll
that a point will repeat.
Pass Line: The area where a pass line bet is placed.
Point: Amount rolled on the come out roll if a 4, 5,
6, 8, 9 or 10. This point has to be repeated before a seven rolls for
the pass line bets to win.
Punter: One who gambles in the casino – the player.
Push: When the dealer and the player have hands with
the same total. No one wins or loses.
Shill: An employ of the gaming establishment that starts
a game.
Shoe: Name given to the box that the dealer places the
shuffled cards into.
Shooter: The person rolling the dice in a game of craps.
Soft Hand: Any blackjack hand that contains an ace valued
at eleven.
Stand: Choosing not to take any additional cards.
Stickman: The dice dealer who calls the numbers rolled
